Elisha Lazaros

Law Clerk

bio

I graduated from the Centennial College Law Clerk program in 2005 and knew right away that Family Law would be my chosen field. Separation from a partner is stressful and can be incredibly complicated, yet my naturally empathetic nature allows me to thrive in this profession as I take care to listen and comfort each client so we can understand what is most important to them.

I take great satisfaction seeing our clients through to the other side of the process and onto the next chapter. My congenial manner allows our clients to feel comfortable knowing we will be there to address their concerns, and their team truly has their best interests at heart and will advocate for them. Whether it’s interacting with my colleagues or our clients, I approach every day as a blessing to be doing what I truly love and to help those who need support. I always try to stay solution oriented while also giving clients the encouragement they need to stay strong until everything is finalized.

I take pride in being able to collaborate with my team as well as clients as I understand that everybody works a little differently to get the job done. As a result I enjoy working with and for a wide range of personalities and can assist with translating between people, an essential skill in this profession. I am pleased to be the day-to-day point of contact on our files and to provide a cost-effective solution to our clients wherever I can. Far from flinching when something unexpected happens, I enjoy discovering unique issues, especially as Stanchieri Family Law has a wide pool of wonderful mentors and resources available. I have experience in everything from simple divorces to drafting sophisticated separation agreements with extensive considerations. If our client has a matter that is unable to settle at the negotiation level, I have experience assisting our lawyers in dealing with courts all over Ontario from first appearances and conferences to complex motions. Each court has their own way of doing things, I specialize in keeping up to date with those procedures and organizing financial disclosure, which can be one of the most important and time-consuming parts of the process.

After graduating from my Law Clerk program, I sought to supplement my utility in the Family Law realm. I enrolled in the University of Ottawa’s Psychology program, where I particularly enjoyed Child and Adolescent Development which has assisted me greatly in both my personal life and in this profession. After I completed my undergraduate, I found I was also adept in several complimentary fields in law, such as Real Estate, Corporate, Wills and Estates, and Tax Law. However, Family Law has always been my passion, and I was lucky that I found a position which focused predominantly in Family Law in 2017. It is my pleasure to say that I enjoy this field more than any other, and I believe that this enthusiasm translates easily into the work I do every day.

You’ll frequently find me either in my home kitchen creating elaborate meals or otherwise at restaurants trying something new. If not, my spare time is usually engaged with wargaming tournaments, crocheting, horror novels and videogames, or out and about in nature with my husband, two children, and three dogs.
