Lawyer

Bio

I have been practicing family law since my call to the bar in 2015. I take pride in my practice and sincerely believe there are practical, cost-effective and long-term solutions to family law problems. I believe that when I provide candid, honest and understandable advice, I assist my clients in reaching solutions during what can often be one of the most stressful and chaotic times of their life. Throughout my years of practice, I have witnessed the many impacts of separation firsthand, including how it can significantly affect a person’s natural judgment. I work hard to build trust with my clients and provide them with clear advice. My goal is to enable my clients to make long-term positive decisions and to ensure they are informed consumers.

As a lawyer, I have argued many motions, appeared at every type of conference, appeared at mediations and arbitrations, and participated in trials. While litigation can be avoided, it can also be necessary. When it is necessary, I have the experience, skills and confidence to litigate. I also have the support of a highly skilled, experienced and professional team.

Before attending law school at Western University, I worked in the hospitality industry for 14 years. For my last 5 years in this business, I was the General Manager of The Harbour Restaurant, one of the most well-known and busiest banquet halls in the City of Kingston, my hometown. In this role, I booked and executed all events, which included over 50 weddings a year. Much like my role now as a lawyer, I was the point person for clients, available for clients, discussed and implemented client’s goals, and ensured that clients understood what was realistic and attainable with specific reference to their goals and their budget.

In my undergraduate studies, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology at Queen’s University. My studies in psychology have also greatly assisted me in my profession as a family lawyer as I have a unique and elevated understanding of the various emotional and personality traits intertwined with disputes and dispute resolution, and I have an ability to manage my client’s stress and anxiety in a mature and productive manner.

In my spare time, I enjoy music. I am a drummer and have recently begun to play acoustic guitar. Recently, I started a group called “Decades”, which explores music albums front to back in a podcast fashion. The group highly recommends its Canadian favourites, The Guess Who and The Sheepdogs. Every day, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my dog, Brady.

Highly Recommend

My lawyer, Andrew was great. He was always mindful of cost, time and most importantly, my sons best interests. He gave practical solutions and always took into consideration all of the parties (personalities, past etc) and wasn’t just black and white according to the law. I would highly recommend Andrew and the law clerk working with Andrew, Ashley who is also superb, knowledgeable and easy to talk to.
